Job description

At HiScan, we have one conviction: social malaise is data. And you're going to help us collect it.

As a UX Researcher in Social Discomfort, your mission is to observe, document and analyze the real frictions that people experience when greeting each other in intercultural contexts. You will participate in the design of our user journeys and contribute directly to improving our greeting recommendation algorithms.

You will work closely with the product team and the AI team to turn field observations into concrete design decisions. Every missed handshake, every unwanted kiss, every accidental headbutt — that's your working material.

Profile

You have a background in UX research, social sciences, anthropology, design, or psychology — or a creative combination of all of these.

You are able to observe human interactions without being noticed (rare and underrated talent). You know how to turn qualitative observations into actionable insights. You are comfortable with user interviews, field tests and data synthesis.

Above all: you understand viscerally what it's like not to know how many kisses to give. You don't have to experience it badly — but you have to have experienced it.

Why apply?

  • Europe Field Budget
Paid trips to watch people greet each other awkwardly in Amsterdam, Paris, Lisbon and elsewhere.

  • Therapy reimbursed
Up to 6 sessions per year. Because we know what we're asking you to do.

  • Full flexibility
Social malaise does not occur from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Neither does your schedule.

  • International Team
8 nationalities, 0 kisses imposed. Paradise.

  • Annual training budget
€1,500 for conferences, courses or books. On any topic that makes you better.

Conduct of interviews

1. Application — We read everything. Really. Especially your answer to the application questions.

2. Video interview (30 min) — A casual conversation with Sofia (CEO) to get to know each other. You will be asked to tell us about your fondest memory of social malaise. It's a serious filter.

3. Field test (1 day) — You attend a networking event with a team member and give us a mini-observation report. Expenses refunded.

4. Offer — If we are aligned, we will send you an offer within 48 hours.

Diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities are important to us. Applicants are therefore selected on the basis of their qualities and skills, without distinction as to age, religion, origin, disability, sex or gender.
If you have a disability, learning difficulty or illness and would like to benefit from reasonable accommodation as part of the selection procedure, please mention this on your application. Just say so in your application. The conditions will be adapted as best we can so that you can apply in the best possible circumstances.
